[Letter from my father to a missionary couple in New Delhi]

Dear Elder and Sister __________,

Hello from Guam! I hope this letter finds you well and successful in your missionary efforts. I received your name and address from the Singapore Mission and hope you can help me. I’ve enclosed a copy of the letter I sent to the Singapore Mission which outlines the type of help I’m seeking. Of course I have no way of knowing what your situation is or whether you would be in a position to help me find this little beggar boy and see that he gets the attention he needs. If so, I’d sincerely appreciate anything you could do. If you are not in a position to help I’d appreciate a note to let me know so I can try and track down another avenue for the help he needs.

If you are able to help and require funds to do so please do not hesitate to let me know and I will immediately forward whatever you tell me you will require. As far as money is concerned I have sufficient means and would consider it a blessing to send you whatever you feel you need since I feel confident in your ability to judge the requirements of the situation.

As I mentioned in the enclosed letter I don’t think it would be too difficult to locate the boy in Agra since he apparently spends part of the day begging at the entrance to Agra Fort (not Red Fort as the letter mentions), and the rest of the day at the Agra train station (at least that is where I found him). Of course it would require you to go to Agra but the train ride from New Delhi to Agra is quite pleasant and only takes about 2 hours as I recall. I would have sent the money for your train fare in this letter had I been sure you would be in a position to help. In as far as I’m not certain of your situation I will wait until I hear from you before I send funds (and I need to be sure that this is your correct address and you actually got my letter). If you would let me know the best way to send you funds when it is time I will send what you need right away.

Thank you for any help you can give. Judging from my experiences in India we all have a great and difficult work to do there with the Indian people, but I know that Heavenly Father loves all his children wherever they are and that he will bless all your efforts.

God bless you both and all your missionary efforts.

Sincerely, your brother in the gospel,

__________
